Introduction

Around 1,000 work-based electrical accidents are reported to the Health and Safety Executive each year and about 25 people die from their injuries.

Every business uses electricity. Used safely by taking common-sense precautions, it should not pose any threats, but the statistics speak for themselves.

Electrical Safety explains very simply what electricity is, how it works and what can happen if people misuse it. It describes how to avoid electric shocks and fires to increase employees’ own safety and the safety of others around them. They are also given guidance on how to help should an emergency occur.
